So, I had a hard day today, and when I came home I didn't really want to do anything...at all. So I decided why not try something new. Aaaand here is what I've got.
I did a few of such watercolour birds (these two are the best I've got) on a crappy not-at-all-watercolour paper))) Interesting thing is that I didn't do any sketches in graphite beforehand. At once, I began with making a few brushstrokes for an outline and then proceeded to working with colour in quiet a broad manner.
Since the paper is thin and not seized everything dries very quickly, so no working on edges
But anyway, the goal was to get a major idea quickly and efficiently, to get gesture, form and colour in less than 10 min. I guess for a first attempt that went pretty well. I'll definitely try to do more of these. They make one think about every brushstroke and also provide an opportunity to experiment and fail, and fail, and fail again....and fail...and then get something decent, think...and try again....and fail but in a better way)))
